Chawna--Thanks! I'm longwinded enough for the both of us! And I know how much work goes into these things, so you're welcome!

Brandon--That's very kind of you, thank you. Don't think too highly of me--that reading list is what's on my list to read--and they've been on the list quite a while. I keep forgetting to add the tour books, and somehow, those always end up ahead of the would-like-to-read books. So ditto for me!

Thanks, Becky

BTW, I want to add, since it often gets misunderstood, that my comments on how eschatology is being used goes across theory lines. I've known post-tribbers using their eschatology as an excuse to run and hide and pre-tribbers using theirs to energize them as they stay in the game. Whatever particular theory we hold to, when we give in to despair, we often turn to eschatology to excuse it.

From what I've read elsewhere, this was as much therapeutic writing to cope with the death of his first wife as much as anything else, which could explain a bit. Laments, and writers often do that through our writing, eventually reach a turn where you go from pouring out your negative feelings to God to praising Him; Barkley just may not have been emotionally ready for that yet when he penned this.

Hi Andrea,

Great points. I thought your review well voiced. I find myself agreeing with you time and again whenever you post on the LGG yahoo group.

I see you are reading some Francis Schaeffer books. I've been wanting to read him for some time. I read "Total Truth," by Nancy Pearcy, (and highly recommend it!) and she quoted him often.

Excellent post! You hit upon several good points, ones I didn't mention in my own book review since I didn't want to be too long-winded. It's nice to see someone else caught them too.

Also thank you for the referral. I struggle hard to write a good, balanced review, and it's nice to know someone is reading them.
